HIS FATHERS GUN
VERSE 1:
Roaming the streets like an only son
Holding on tight to his father's gun
Hiding in the shadows till the moment slips away
His best friend Jackie by his side
Target of laughter all their lives
They only wished to see a smile start to fade
Heart beat racing, full of dread
Remembering words his father said
Grips a little tighter till he feels it start to sway
CHORUS
I guess he must have met the devil that night
Showed him the ropes, the door, the lights
Whispered in his ear as he slowly backed away
VERSE 2
And so it goes, that on that night
The headlights turned, he was paralysed
Finger on the trigger, now the edges start to fray
Took that thing right off his hip
He closed one eye and bit his lip
How the game changed with the pieces all in play
A cornered dog, a dead end street
With no way out will bear it's teeth
He never believed he would take a life away
CHORUS
I guess he must have met the devil that night
Showed him the ropes, the door, the lights
Whispered in his ear as he slowly backed away
There he stood with a smoking gun
Now all he could do is turn and run
Not a moment would pass where he wouldn't rue the day
VERSE 3:
That gun was kept under lock and key
They always do, they just break free
Don't you dare, you'd hear his father say
Those Two boys never looked for fame
Whole town now would know their names
Nothing they knew would ever be the same
Dig a little deeper, and you'd find
This boy is not the killing kind
A moment of madness, the lines had blurred to grey
