I wrote you a letter, it sounded pretty good
So I folded it up just like we did in middle school
I drove straight down to your house and jumped the chain-length fence
Put it in your mailbox, your dog was barking
And your dad was still on the couch watching reruns of Friends
Your light was on so I snuck around the tiny hedge and climbed the tree
I could hear your voice so sweet, you whispered softly, that you still hate me
I fell from the tree and I started to bleed
I left a trail of thoughts underneath all those leaves
I wanted to be more than someone you just ignored
A ghost from your past that comes back, laughs when you snore
Your dad got up off the couch and he started chasing me
I only looked back once but he gave up easy
I'll never give up on you, never give up on me
I wrote you a letter but it sounded cheesy
