Nick Johnson - Footballer Interview Lyrics

[ Featuring Nino Morro ]

INTERVIEWER:
Robbie, massive congratulations on getting to the next round. It was your goal that separated the match. How do you feel?

ROBBIE:
Thank you very much. I m just really happy for the team. Erm everyone worked hard and felt we had good chances in both halves. Thankfully, I managed to get a goal in the net, which, you know, is always a bonus, and the boys at back stopped Portugal getting through and erm they re a really good side, so it s great to keep a clean sheet.

INTERVIEWER:
Talk us through the goal.

ROBBIE:
Er yeah, I just got myself into the box. It was great play on the wing. I saw the ball come in and just tried to make sure I got the timing of the jump right, really. I saw the keeper come for it, just managed to get in front of him and made good contact, and it was a fantastic moment for me to see the ball fly in.

INTERVIEWER:
You ve now scored in every game of the tournament. It was Euro 1996 when the last Englishman won the golden boot. You thinking about that?

ROBBIE:
Hm, I mean, I don t want to get ahead of myself here. I just want to focus fully on the game in hand, take one step at a time and just keep getting the results for the team. Obviously, when the tournament is over this is something I can maybe look back on and think about it then, but right now I just want to help the team out and get the boys the results we need.

INTERVIEWER:
You seem to score all kinds of goals: headers, shots with both feet from inside and outside the box from all angles. What do you put this down to?

ROBBIE:
I ve been working hard in training with set pieces and left my foot erm the gaffer has given me some pointers, pointing on his experience and drawing from other players on the field. Erm the coaches have been fantastic, and when I get into those areas I feel confident and able to drive forward to try and get the goals. I m just really enjoying my football at the moment.

INTERVIEWER:
Thanks, Robbie.

ROBBIE:
Thank you very much.
