Oskari Leikos - Lily Lyrics

Oskari Leikos - Lily Lyrics

Once upon a time I went to the forest
And found a meadow where the lilies grew
And there she sat, in the middle of it all
And that was when I knew

She came to me with a lily in her hand
And asked me to smell the flower
It was the sweetest scent I had ever tasted
She told me I could have some more

So the days passed with the girl of lilies
'Twas the sweetest time in my life
At some point I had lost the count
Of the sunsets and the dawns

Then one day I felt that something was wrong
She stood by a tree with no smile on her face
There was something in the air, I could feel from the breeze
That made me just a little uneasy

She looked at me with eyes so painful
"My time here is running low"
I asked her, "What's wrong, is it pain, or is it grief?"
But she told me, "Don't worry 'bout me"

"For I am the spirit that keeps the circle goin'
I have a fate that I cannot fight
And when the flowers bloom no more
I have to give them new life"

She looked to my eyes with the deepest concern
And asked me to do her a favour
So I did, and I made my way to the hilltop
And she asked me just what I saw

So I gazed upon the relentless landscape
No flower was there to be seen
Then I ran back to her and found her trembling
She told me it was her time to go

We followed the path through the forest
And came to the meadow where the lilies used to grow
And when she stopped and looked me in the eyes
She told me not to drown in sorrow

A single tear drop fell on her cheek
She knelt down and her breath grew heavy and hoarse
I begged for her not to lay down
But she told me she had no other choice

Now the meadow is deserted and only one flower is blooming
As I wonder how life and death occur
My love, she's forever gone
But a lily in the meadow reminds me of her
