Prince - Little Red Corvette Lyrics

Prince Lyrics

Little Red Corvette Lyrics
[Verse 1:]
I guess I should have know, by the way you parked your car
Side ways, that it wouldn't last
See your the kind of person, who believes in making out once
Love 'em and leave them fast
I guess I must be dumb, cause she had a pocket full of horses
Trojan and some of them used
But it was Saturday night, I guess that makes it alright
And u say, what have I got to lose
(Honey I say)

[Chorus:]
Little red corvette
Baby your much too fast
Little red corvette
You need a love that's gonna last

[Verse 2:]
Guess I should have closed, my eyes when you drove me
To the places where your horses run free
Cause I felt a little I'll, as I saw all the pictures
Of the jockeys that were there before me
Believe it or not, I started to worry
I wonder if I had enough class
But it was Saturday night, I guess that makes it alright
And you say, Baby have you got enough gas
(Oh Yeah)

[Chorus:]
Little red corvette
Baby your much too fast, yes you are
Little red corvette
You need to find a love that's gonna last

[Verse 3:]
A body like yours, ought to be in jail
Cause it's on the verge of being obscene
Move over baby, give me your keys
Cause I'm a tame your little read love machine

[Chorus]

[Ad-libs]

Little Red Corvette Info:

• Prince got the idea for the song when he dozed off in band member Lisa Coleman's pink Mercury Montclair Marauder after an exhausting all-night recording session. The lyrics came to him in bits and pieces during this and other catnaps. Eventually, he was able to finish it without sleeping.

• In the song, Prince narrates a one-night stand with a beautiful but promiscuous woman, the "Little Red Corvette"

• This was his first Top 10 US hit. It helped propel him to superstar status

Stevie Nicks got the idea for Stand Back from this song. She heard it in her car, drove to the recording studio, and put down some tracks. She said:
"It just gave me an incredible idea, so I spent many hours that night writing a song about some kind of crazy argument, and it was to become one of the most important of my songs"
