Another fire on the TV
I watch her resting
Cheekbones flicker blue with night light
Gaunt and clammy
Unfamiliar
Waking, writhing, she murmurs,
""Trapped in this body,""
Cells doubling
Feel her counting down an ending
'Til there's liftoff
Racing from the surface
Blazing plumes surround the thresholds
Disintegrating structures
Her careful waltz between each star
Not too close
But never really far
Gently landing on the surface
Her legs are dangling
From the crater
Is it different from above?
Are you ever really resting?
And through sheer drapes
A hazy moon beams down with ache
Involuntary witness
To the horrors every day
