There's not a sound but for the litter in the breeze
On a warm and sunny April afternoon
The Yorkshire hills look on from over there
Tranquility in shades of green and blue
I can't believe what's been happening here today
And there's not a single cloud in the sky
There's a man with his head in his hands asking his god why
And the sun doesn't know of the tragedy below
It just shines on
Man and boy, not much older than my own
Waved to Mummy standing at the door
How was she to know when she kissed them both goodbye
She'd be haunted by the scene for evermore?
