Paul Koss - Blossoms in the Springtime Lyrics

He wondered how the world had changed so quickly
Or was he just not paying any mind
Where orchards bloomed and wildflowers grew thickly
Now houses spread across the countryside
It seemed like only yesterday the trees stretched on for miles
Apples, cherries, peaches row by row
Now he looks up at the street signs and tries to force a smile
The trees now only name the winding roads

And he said: I remember blossoms in the springtime
When the orchards stretched as far as you could see
And I remember sunshine dancing down through all the trees in line
But now that's just the way things used to be
Because this place is only orchards in my memory

But the orchards aren't a rich man's way of living
And developers would pay a tidy sum
And money talks much louder than the trees can
So the farms and fields were sold off one by one
Now a sign beside the road says
For discriminating tastes, two parcels on the hilltop left for sale
A view from bay to bay, a private road, a quiet place
And the homes are all decidedly upscale.

But I remember blossoms in the springtime
When the orchards stretched as far as you could see
And I remember sunshine dancing down through all the trees in line
But now that's just the way things used to be
Because this place is only orchards in my memory

Now the children play in yards that don't have fences
And mom and dad take walks down by the shore
It's almost like a house out in the country
Except there's one just like it right next door

And the children won't see blossoms in the springtime
Because the orchards are no longer there to see
The sun's now only shining down
On houses, lawns, and backyard barns
And just one lonesome, ancient apple tree
But this place is always orchards in my memory
