Phayned - The Raven's Call Lyrics

Phayned - The Raven's Call Lyrics

In the dead of night, the silence deep,
Where shadows dance and secrets creep,
A knock, a whisper on the door,
A visitor comes, I know not what for.
Nevermore, nevermore

Once upon a midnight dreary, lost in thought and feeling weary,
Reading words of ancient lore, lost loves gone forevermore.
Suddenly, there came a tapping, gently, softly, fingers rapping,
A visitor, I did implore, to ease my heart forevermore.
Who's there? Who's there?
I called into the darkened hall, no answer came, no sound at all,
Just echoes in the empty space, a chill that time could not erase.

The Raven, black as night, perched above, in ghostly light,
It stared at me, with eyes so deep, secrets that it sought to keep.
"Tell me, Raven, what you mean, your eyes so cold, so dark, so keen,"
It croaked one word, a chilling roar, it spoke to me, "Nevermore."
Nevermore, nevermore

I asked of it my questions burning, answers that I'd long been yearning,
But all it spoke was that grim phrase, echoing through haunted haze.
"Is there peace beyond this sorrow? Will I find it come tomorrow?"
Its beak was still, its gaze did bore, and yet it croaked, "Nevermore."
Will I see her face again?
My heart was trapped in sorrow's snare, the bird's dark eyes, a hollow stare,
It perched above my chamber door, taunting me, forevermore.

In that dim and haunted room, my soul was wrapped in endless gloom,
Each whisper from the Raven's beak, a tale of sorrow, dark and bleak.
"No balm, no peace, no sweet release, my pain will never cease,"
The Raven watched, with eyes so wise, like shadows under midnight skies.
Darkness falls, no escape

"Prophet," said I, "thing of evil, sent to haunt me in my hell,
By Heaven, by this house we dwell, tell me, spirit, do tell.
Will I find the peace I'm seeking? Or is this madness ever-creeping?"
Its wings spread wide, my hopes they tore, as it croaked out, "Nevermore."
Nevermore, nevermore
The Raven perched, unmoving still, on that bust above my sill,
Its shadow cast upon the floor, where light and hope exist no more.
