Phil Ryder - Damaged World Lyrics

Walk on any beach, almost anywhere in the world
You'll see plastic bottles washed up on the shore
Plastic bags, plastic ropes, plastic containers
Do such harm to sea life and sea birds

And there's another problem for humanity
Tiny plastic beads that are too small to see
In shower gels, facial scrubs, small specs in toothpaste
In abrasive cleaner and it all goes to waste

Don't let seabirds choke and starve
Don't let the fishes suffer, small and large
The whales, the seals, all creatures in the sea
And in the end humanity

We never asked for them nor knew we wanted them
Big business never thought it through
Fifty thousand down the sink with every single wash
Go straight through filtration, into rivers and the seas

Don't let seabirds choke and starve
Don't let the fishes suffer, small and large
The whales, the seals, all creatures in the sea
And in the end humanity

They get absorbed by plankton, eaten by small fish
Working up the food chain to birds and whales
Their stomachs fool them to think they're full
Which kills a million seabirds every year

8 million tons of plastic are dumped at sea every year
Soon there'll be more plastic in the seas than fish
The earth is so special that we should conserve
Or a damaged world is what we will deserve

Don't let seabirds choke and starve
Don't let the fishes suffer, small and large
The whales, the seals, all creatures in the sea
And in the end humanity
And in the end humanity
