PLBSLC - The Great American Drinking Song Lyrics

PLBSLC - The Great American Drinking Song Lyrics
Official

It was a week or so ago that we were sober
On the patio a-hankerin' for a beer
And although a case of brews was sat before us
There was not one of us who had an ounce of cheer
And so we sat around just trading weary glances
With not much to do but sit there killing time
For as much as we might like to have a brewski
It isn't right to have a beer without a rhyme
Oh everybody loves a great American drinking song
Something to get you sippin' to a tune
Oh everybody loves a great American drinking song
Better than a sober afternoon
Someone suggested Rattlin' Bog would get us drinking
But for some reason it felt too far away
For as much as we like drinking with the Irish
We would prefer a tune built in the USA
Then someone started tapping out a catchy rhythm
And that rhythm grew and grew into a song
It was just the tune we needed to get boozing
And so we cracked a couple beers and sang along
Oh everybody loves a great American drinking song
Something to get you sippin' to a tune
Oh everybody loves a great American drinking song
Better than a sober afternoon
Though we raised our glasses to our new tradition
It was more similar to Rattlin' Bog than we had thought
But if there's one thing that they say about the good ol' USA
It's that it's better when it is a melting pot
Oh, the Rattlin' Bog
The bog down in the valley-oh
Rare bog, a rattlin' bog
The bog down in the valley-oh
Oh, the Rattlin' Bog
The bog down in the valley-oh
Rare bog, a rattlin' bog
The bog down in the valley-oh
Oh everybody loves a great American drinking song
Something to get you sippin' to a tune
Oh everybody loves a great American drinking song
Better than a sober afternoon
Oh everybody loves a great American drinking song
Something to get you sippin' to a tune
Oh everybody loves a great American drinking song
Better than a sober afternoon
