Primus - The Desaturating Seven Lyrics
The Valley
Once there was a land that lived in fear of seven goblins
The goblins fed on color
They plowed the valleys and climbed the highest mountains looking for rainbows
And when they found one, they caught it in their lassoes and sucked the colors up
Filling their bellies with its bright liquid
Only one place in the land had never known goblin fear
A hidden valley called the "Valley of the Rainbow," where great arches of color were born
There, the animals lived in paradise
Where visible life and cast forth the call
Of reflecting in eyes the world all around
Where spectrums can fly, the faces of creation
Rainbow hands touch the ground
The folly of those who gorge upon gnomes
With all their share of what they don't hear
Be leery of the fool, and the rainbows the rain
Filling the landscape with fear

The Seven
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet
These are the colors of the seven
When a rainbow catches their eye, they lure and beguile it
These are the desaturating seven
The seven came a creepin'
The seven came to play
The seven filled the land with a cold dismay
Seven came slaking their wretched thirst
Desaturating colors 'til bellies burst
The desaturating seven
The desaturating seven
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet
These are the desaturating seven
With the grandeur of the world, they abuse and defile it
These are the desaturating seven
They fill their mouths with greed and take way more then they need
Ha ho, the desaturating seven
They're going to prowl and prey 'til the world is dark and grey
Because they are the desaturating seven
The seven came a creepin'
The seven came to play
The seven filled the land with a cold dismay
Seven came slaking their wretched thirst
Desaturating colors 'til bellies burst
The desaturating seven
The desaturating seven
Ooh, desaturating seven

The Trek
The excursion begins in revelry
But the miles compile a sense of disparity
And the day becomes perilously long
The best way to cope
When the end of your rope
Is dangling in your face
Imagine the taste
Of the glory that awaits all ahead
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
It's over that hill
The very next hill
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
Paradise is just over that hill
Trudging through life
Dodging peril and strife
Filling those days
With a lackadaisical malaise
The adventure seems perilously long
The best way to cope
When the end of your rope
Is dangling in your face
Imagine the taste
Of the glory that awaits all ahead
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
It's over that hill
The very next hill
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
Paradise is just over that hill
As the miles compile
And the journey still seems perilously long
The best way to cope
When the end of your rope
Is dangling in your face
Imagine the taste
Of the glory that awaits all ahead
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
It's over that hill
The very next hill
Don't lose heart, comrades
It's over that hill
Paradise is just over that hill
Over the very next
Over the very next hill

The Scheme
Schemers always scheming
And they're scheming all the time
By the flicker of the campfire the scheming dimly shine
And they laugh and fantasize about the prize
If the color's fresh and creamy they will snatch it from the rise
Aw, schemers wretched scheming
Scheme on into the night
Always formulating plans while tucked well out of sight
And they laugh and carry on without the fear
Of knowing the ramifications of the walls with tiny ears
(Evil laugh)
Scheming always scheming
And they're scheming all the time
Weasly little schemers they got scamming on their minds
Enamoring the masses less than wise
The most successful schemers tell the most collosal lies

The Dream
Those that dream in color
Are the lucky ones they say
For dreams devoid of color
Are black and white and grey
The shadows of a dreary day
When minds are dripping color
And there's liquid on the brain
They laugh to one another
And politely go insane
In the countries of the dream terrain

The Storm
With salivating psyches
The Seven start to swarm
Anticipating gluttony with
The coming of the storm
The coming of the storm
If gluttony were a virtue
The Seven would be saints
For the glory of the valley
They have come to surely taint
Who is this Shirley Taint?
With pail and lasso quick at hand
They stalk and set to pounce
While slobbering in their greed
The savory tension mounts
The savory tension mounts
As the rainbow rises
With color rich and true
They gaze in wide-eyed wonder
At the vibrance of each hue
The vibrance of each hue
Leaping forward with the cunning
Of FOX on simple prey
Flinging lassos in the air
But the colors drop away
The colors drop away
Sordid lines come snapping backwards
Clashing with their hopes
Dumbfounded wretched writhing
As they tangle in their ropes
And came a mighty flood
Of the colors they desired
For the rainbows and the flowers
Of the valley had conspired
Revelations often come
When struggling not to sink
That when the meek unite
They aren't helpless a one may think
Drowning in the colors they had come to steal
The valiant persecuted served a devastating meal
No one in the valley wept for them

The Ends?
Every leery of fools who try to wrangle rainbows
Rainbow ends don't touch the ground
Now rainbow ends don't touch the ground
Now rainbow ends don't touch the ground
