When I step outside the clouds scream at me
Pedestrians point their finger at me
I am frightened by the anger of the sun
My only visitor is an unfriendly nurse
I don't leave my rent controlled universe
There are many ways to be free
I don't need street signs taunting me
And when vultures gather on my sidewalk
And the nation begins to breathe, I won't leave
I feel safest inside with my machines
Out there is a wasteland of deleted dreams
