The velvet lips of a rose are too delicate to hold
And I have found the beauty in that
If you hold the stem too tight
Then the thorns will go right into your skin
Into your skin it'll go
The rose you hold will cut you deep
If you don't let it go then scars are all you'll keep
Now the hardest part of letting go
Are the wounds you've got to show
When you open up your hands
When you open up your hands to let it go
The rose you hold will cut you deep
If you don't let it go then scars are all you'll keep
The rose you hold will cut you deep
If you don't let go soon enough you'll have scars just like me
Yes I know what you're going through
Because I once held a flower and it was just like you
I learned my lesson when the blood ran down
And so I let that flower fall right to the ground
The rose you hold will cut you deep
If you don't let it go then scars are all you'll keep
The rose you hold will cut you deep
If you don't let go soon enough you'll have scars just like me
