Robby Royce - What Are Stars? Lyrics

Robby Royce - What Are Stars? Lyrics

What are stars i often wonder
The stories I have for them are funner than this scientism blunder
But it's a strong spell people are under
She asked my opinion and I spun her head till she became a runner
Wonder if I'm dumb or dead thats the second one this summer
Thinkin outside the box will cost you a lotta box its a bummer
Had the girl i like a lot that works at equinox down to her socks
And stopped and watched her bubble pop
Cuz lately I've been concerned more with the stars
And whos on top than whos on top
Is it crazy if I wanna see if you are like me or just crazy before the panties drop
And if you think I'm perfect I'm not
As far as sex i got a lot
But always tried to treat it like more than an afterthought
And I've repented my forgiveness was bought
By Jesus on the cross
That nigh his suffering was my thought
So if you see me hanging with a girl don't think I'm caught
Ask me if I can hold out for marriage probably not
In my hometown it's the toughest battle I've ever fought
Sometimes I spiral on instagram with a crazy thought just to see if they'll stop
Then i get a dm like hey just name the spot
What are the stars tho cuz I'm clearly not
I don't even think I'm hot & if I died today I'd be forgot
Like forgotten
Stars in the telescope appear to be movin like a jellyfish groovin
Various shapes and colors they all do it in
If I end up usin this poem then I'll be screwed again
Sposed to be about stars not a sexual confession
But if I'm honest isn't it the toughest sin with which most Christians struggle in
Or am I jugglin a neuce with this pen
Guess ill find out
But Ill probably never find out what these lights in the sky are all about
And will i still get into heaven I have my doubts
But wait Robby you've been saved, Jesus fought that bout
He says he'll present my case to the father, he can still throw it out
In which case maybe souls cast out just take a different route
And could it be, this is what stars are?
Souls without his blessing left in doubt
Wandering the earth in all their clout
Turning about whirling and guiding
Spurting light in infinite amounts
Burning into my mind that I'll never truly know until I pout
Someone please bail me out, this spiritual drought is causing me to bug out
Like out to sea
The stars shine on me
Stars used to ride with me
Now more than ma lady call me Daddy
Thats enough for me
Chasin down JC
Like hey still forgiving
I mess up like a hundred times and its not even 3
Maybe I'm not part of the decree?
Robby a poets what I designed you to be
But you keep chasing money and tail by the sea
Sorry my body tells me frequently
That I may have been designed for a little more than poetry
Plus I couldn't write a line with an real meaning till I turned 30
And had my kid stripped from me
But I'm gonna see him today even though it costed me
And wasn't free it's exciting to see him for a few hrs took everything
But was worth every penny
At least we probably won't need college money
Cause they can't even convince me what the stars be
So maybe he'll be into artistry
Like his sister and his daddy
Maybe he'll be able to see the stars aren't burning gas like me
Or maybe he'll think his Daddy is crazy and chase the dollar
Guess we'll see
Are they in water is that what makes them shift and look blurry
And why did youtube skurry to pull videos that showed this in a hurry
Were they worried
Stuff I ponder at the food court gettin kabob and curry
Or with my kid gettin a McFlurry
Speaking of Curry I got some texts for my exes attorney
Sorry that ones just for her and me
And starry nights are fun to see
Used to enjoy them the most in San Clemente
Zoomin in with new technology
Cuz in the inner city there too much light to really see
But by the sea its easy
When was the last time you looked in the sky
Cuz I do it nightly
And I can pickout every constellation in astrology
And plenty more too I'm quite verse in astronomy
Last few years I'm much more interested in the sky than the economy
Like an undercover nerd that blew his autonomy
I let it out in my poetry
So I think people are onto me
So happy I found something other than a con to be
Even though for my job confidence is definitely key
Maybe there's a star in me
