Feathers from a cassowary
Frowns amid the calla lilies
Bleeding in the morning rain
She sacrifices you
Hooded like a shadow walker
Beckons with her crooked finger
Notched upon my steel again
Come sacrifice me, too
Time is a thief
I caught it stealing shots of her
And whiting her smiling face away
Empty belief
And many-splintered love remain
And even those will waste away
Lilting in the starless evening
Music from the darkness drifting
Into ears and minds left empty
As it passes through
Let her wrap her wings around you
When the biting cold has found you
Poets' hearts were made to break
In blasted-heaven blue
Time is a thief
I saw it stealing shots of her
And whiting her smiling face away
Empty belief
And many-splintered love remain
And even those will waste away
