Schammasch - They Have Found Their Master Lyrics

Schammasch - They Have Found Their Master Lyrics

Men, despite the excellence of their methods, and aid of exploratory research, still have not managed to measure your pitch-black, unfathomed abyss - for even the most advance among your instruments have recognized it to be inaccessible - and thus mankind does not have permission to enter.

They cannot enter here. They cannot enter you.
You cannot enter here - you've never been given permission
You cannot enter here - your lack of resilience disqualified you
You cannot enter here - let this be your eternal reminder
You cannot enter here - to know your place and accept your lot

I've often wondered which was the easier to acknowledge: the inherent depth of the ocean or the abyssic profundity of the human heart... I was often standing aboard ship, my hand to my brow, while the moon balanced askew between the masts, I've astonished myself, disregarding all save the goal I pursued, striving to solve this complex enigma! Whose depth is the deeper? If half a life's experience can tilt the scale toward one or the other, I may have permission to state that, despite the former's depth, it couldn't, within the context of this analogy, outplay the depth of the human heart.

For once again I shall secretly gloat over the countless examples of human depravity. You who grandly created it, I invoke show me an honest man. And how is one supposed to comprehend two lovers who idolized one another the night before, because of one word misunderstood, bring to naught their carefully constructed pillar of unified intimacy, so dramatically tainted by the all-consuming anguish that the aftermath of love is at the end of the day. Is that not a concept worthy of the depths of a thousand hells?

Who can understand why we relish all misfortunes of even our most cherished fellows, while simultaneously they tend to grieve us in compassion? Hypocritically man says yes yet thinks no. And that is why the wildest boars of humanity trust each other so much and are not egoists.

Old ocean, you are so powerful that men have learned this to their own cost. Well may they empty all the resources of their geniusincapable of ruling you. They have found something stronger than themselves. They Have Found Their Master. They have found something stronger than themselves, yes they have found their master. They have found their master."
