The Black Knight
I may have a disconnect with understanding
The Protagonist
I can't fathom
The Black Knight
But I know when a treasure is stolen away
The Protagonist
Is all lost
The Black Knight
I failed too many tests to be called a polymath
The Protagonist
I failed her
The Protagonist
But wisdom shrieks this the moment
To retreat- regain your gentleness
Abstain from their disorder
Eugene
Can I please have your attention
If unaware, the city is crumbling
With revolution underway
With justice severed and peace negated
It's time to control the narrative, to control the image
To reclaim time stolen through
Blunt force and willpower, to
Slit their throats
Castrate them all
The Black Knight
Instead of bombshells on sand
They now draw shivs for
The heart and soul of the land
All to control thoughts, beliefs
The right to say no, to censor the
'I don't believe in your war
Nor what you call justice'
And to not stand with any side
The Protagonist
What is war but the unnecessary yet
Inevitable domination of differing ideals
But I fought for independence long before
Some asshole yelled into a loudspeaker
The Black Knight
Neither for allies nor opponents
My critiques analyzed human nature
Before invented systems
See them now demonize
Condemning oppressors' violence while
Creating the same? I sheathed my sword
To not become a martyr to it
Refusing to protect without first dealing
With my fundamentalism
To neither signal virtue through the disregard of property
Nor enjoying wanton destruction
Today I'm stronger
Yet only in privacy do I remove: my armor is ten times
The frail boy beneath
I fear not their ideas, rather
That my strength means nothing Yet couldn't I still declare
Yours is a bastards' battle
With no need to forcing
Your way. I once desired
Becoming a general
But you can have
Its regalia
