I'm gonna take a walk down old 2nd Street
Nothing happening goes on down there
I take a look over my shoulder just to see
The devil standing with his long, brown hair
I flag him down, and say"Hey now!" to him
He simply turns and shrugs"Hello"
I guess two lonesome devils can share the open road
I'm gonna take a walk down old 2nd Street
Once new, my dirty shoes, they make their way
The devil keeps his distance twenty yard behind me
And honestly, I wish he'd go away"It's high time you learned your lesson"
He's creeping up, closer now
He kicks me over, takes a break, and then he takes a bow
Walking down old 2nd Street
Those chilly winds keep nipping at my heels
Spend some time with your devil
And tell me how it feels
Sticking to the pavement on old 2nd Street
My devil's left me bloodied, bashed, and bruised
I try to muster strength to pick myself back up
When I realize I have nothing left to lose
I know I must have something wrong with me
The sun is rising, I'm laying flat
Peel myself back off the pavement, try to forget the past
If you ever choose to walk down old 2nd Street
Just know, your devil's following your trail
He takes his time in many shapes and forms
But he will get to you without fail
I've just about now learned my lesson
I know my place, I know my rank
Down the line, in endless time, my devil I will thank
Walking down old 2nd Street
Those chilly winds keep nipping at my heels
Spend some time with your devil
And tell me how it feels
How does it feel now?
