Today we lay to rest our brother, our friend, our kin
Once a full life now lost never to be heard again
The struggles with habits died before him, so tragic
His passion for life seemed abundant it's almost repugnant
For those around him to think his joy redundant
He's buried with nothing - Save for our fond memories
Dropped in a box to rot in - Gone but far from forgotten
Nobody knows why he took his own life - At some point, everyone has to die
But secrets don't make friends as we'll all find - When we meet our inevitable end
Crippled by self-doubt, too late, we find out
That the fake smile he wore bore a hole in his soul
Now we push on in spite of his absence.
A life sentence of mourning the loss of our dear friend
He thought it better this way, muting his unspoken pain
Here lies another crushed under the weight of depression
An obsession of self-loathing and regression
A journey to the darkest places in his head
Facing the burden of giving in to life's consummation
Sometimes the strongest (Sometimes the strongest)
Can get lost in the darkness (Can get lost in the darkness)
When seeking some guidance (When seeking some guidance)
Need a hand to lead the way (Take my hand)
The time will come when one has to evolve
From what was once unshakable resolve
To give in to darkness
So far from flawless
Now we bid farewell
