Yung R - Epiphany (feat. Origin) Lyrics
Official

As I grow I just know every boy needs a father
In this life full of pain and some laughter
It's different for us men
We're not as strong as you women we're just young men
This absence we must end
I know I'm talking to enough men
And I ain't looking for no sympathy
I just wanna give you my epiphany
A little bit of money yeah that's the bare minimum
A tool to keep me sweet like cinnamon
I don't remember the gadgets
But you took advantage of my innocence
You had a plan all along
To try and take me from the place that I belong
And you were shocked at my response
As if I didn't know my right from my wrong
Not everybody's built for it
And in hindsight everyone's got the answer
The damage you can do psychologically is mad
This can't be healed by a plaster
They say absence, makes the heart grow fonder
I disagree it made my stance grow stronger
It was one of my insecurities that
Turned me into a monster
As I grow I just know every boy needs a father
In this life full of pain and some laughter
It's different for us men
We're not as strong as you women we're just young men
This absence we must end
I know I'm talking to enough men
And I ain't looking for no sympathy
I just wanna give you my epiphany
What you did to me I wouldn't do to you
You couldn't imagine what I'm going through
It's like getting your heart ripped out of you
Something I'd never imagined you'd do
I would never, have a
Son and disappear later
Later
I'm no player
It's too common in my community
Ain't nobody else, it's just you and me
It was like a tug of war between you and mum
And I didn't like the pressure cause' it ruined me
Mum taught me how to shave my face
That cut me real deep, that left a stain
Frustrations disguised by behaviour
Nobody to share my pain
A mother shouldn't play both roles
Palmed off to my gran so I grew cold
But I had another figure
Nuff respect for the man I call a real hitter
Different kinda work rate
He gave a meaning to the word Dad
And I'm in a minority
Cause' not every boy is taught how to be a man
As I grow I just know every boy needs a father
In this life full of pain and some laughter
It's different for us men
We're not as strong as you women we're just young men
This absence we must end
I know I'm talking to enough men
And I ain't looking for no sympathy
I just wanna give you my epiphany
Can't control what you do
I'm not the one missing out
I hold my own, consider myself real strong
Love the ones looking out
Can't control what you do
I'm not the one missing out
I hold my own, consider myself real strong
Love the ones looking out
